Nanoscience

Nanoscience is the study of systems at the nanometer scale, i.e., one millionth of a millimeter. For example, a tissue divided into 100,000 layers would generate 100,000 sheets of atomic width.

Why is nanoscience important?

Materials of this size behave differently than when they are at the macroscopic scale at which we always see them. For example, the gold things we see are gold in color, but gold nanoparticles can be pink, or green, or blue or other colors depending on their shape and size.

Nanotechnology

Involves research of nanometric systems from science, engineering and technology to provide novel solutions to complex problems. Nanotechnology is present in our daily lives in telephones and computers; it also has applications in energy, medicine, pharmacology, engineering, aeronautics, food industry, etc.
