We inform you that members of the N2BP traveled to Brazil to participate in the “Brazilian Materials Research Society” (B-MRS) congress, held at the Blue Med Convention Center in Santos, Sao Paulo, from September 29 to October 3.

The event was attended by Dr. Valeria Del Campo (PI) and Dr. Francisco Peña Recabarren (IJ), as well as the students of Dr. Tomás Corrales (PI): Dragica Bezjak, Benjamín Schleyer, Martin Chavarría and Tamara Beltrán, a student of Valeria Del Campo.

The congress showcases the advances in the study of materials carried out by the scientific community in Brazil and around the world.

It covers diverse topics such as Advanced Characterization, Bio and Soft Matter, Electronics and Photonics, Functional Materials and Sustainability. It also included mini-courses, plenary sessions, talks and poster presentations.

All members of the core group were able to present, while Dr. Francisco Peña presented the poster entitled “Caloric effect due to the Aharonov-Bohm flux in an antidot”.

“I can say about this meeting that Brazilian society has been making strong progress in materials science for quite some time. It is clear that there is a constant investment in resources by the State and the number of experimental presentations and various applications at this congress is surprising. I am pleasantly surprised and happy with the experience,” said Francisco.

We congratulate all those who managed to participate in this activity.
