Dr. Natalia Hassan, Alternate Director of our nucleus, traveled to Europe to attend various events and visit some members of the N2BP.

The journey began with Sabina Arias, who is doing a ten-month stay in the Soft Matter and Molecular Biophysics Group of the Department of Applied Physics of the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, under the supervision of Dr. Juan M. Ruso and Dr. Ramón Rial.

From June 23 to 26, the 10th Iberian Meeting on Colloids and Interfaces (RICIX) was held in Portugal at the University of Coimbra, where the following papers were presented:

Natalia Hassan (oral presentation):

“Microfluidic Platform for Enhanced Detection of Breast Cancer Cell Line-Derived Exosomes” (work by Felipe Rojas, Rina Ortiz and collaborators).

Poster:

Synthesis of Gold-Coated Nanoparticles via Microfluidics Using Gold-Albumin Nanoclusters Conjugated with Folic Acid for Nanomedicine Applications” (work by Verena Cárdenas and Simón Guerrero). This was chosen as the best poster of the meeting.

Sabina Arias (oral presentation):

“Hydrodynamic evaluation of gold nanoparticles in microfluidics devices”.

After this event, they participated in the annual conference of the European Organ-on-chip Society (EUROoCS), held from July 3 to 5 at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy, a meeting that allowed them to learn about the latest advances in this area.

Sabina presented the work in poster format: ”Cell viability of B16F10 cells treated with sphere and rod gold nanoparticles cultured on microdevice”.
