In August 2023, Dr. Valeria del Campo, Principal Investigator (UTFSM), was interviewed on the program “Tu conexión Matinal” on the regional channel TVR. During the interview, she discussed the WISE: Women Inspiring Solar Engineering program, which aims to strengthen professional skills and leadership among women in the industry.

In Chile, there is a gender gap in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Data from the Ministry of Women and Gender Equity indicate that only 1 in 4 enrollments in these programs are women, which translates to just 25% of total enrollments. Additionally, in the technology field, this figure drops to 20%.

‍To reverse this trend and promote change, the Solar Energy Research Center Chile (SERC Chile) aims to encourage female participation in the energy sector.
